Grade A
- (a) Casings of this grade have not been previously retreaded, remolded or repaired with a section
- (b) Casings of this grade have at least 1/32″ of the original groove tread depth remaining
- (c) Casings of this grade have not been re-grooved
- (d) Casings of this grade do not contain the following
- Significant weather checking
- Damage requiring a major section repair
- More than 2 nail holes in nylon tire casing or more than 1 nail hole in radial tire casing
- Penetrating injury 3mm or deeper
- Obvious use in deflated condition
- Tread skid
- Deep tread cuts by sharp rocks, glass, metal, etc. that damaged nylon or steel cords
- Excessive sidewall abrasion or damage
- Sidewall ripples or bulges
- Bead damage or deformity
- Circumferential cracking around the bead area
- Separation
Grade B
- Casings of this grade may contain up to 2 of the conditions mentioned below:
- Casing with no remaining tread depth
- Previously repaired nail holes
- Deep tread cuts within the allowable limit
- Section repair required
- Maximum 4 nail holes but not grouped together in nylon tire casing and maximum 2 nail holes in radial tire casing
- Penetrating injury less than 6mm deep
- Minor damage on sidewall and/or shoulder (rubber only) within the allowable limit, but no damage to fabric or steel cords
- Damage to rubber in bead area, but no damage to bead wire itself
Note: All other conditions are the same as in the Grade A casing
Grade R1
- Casings of this grade (so-called once recapped casings) have previously been fully or partially recapped and may contain some of the following:
- Previously repaired damage within the allowable limit
- Tread cuts in rubber area within the allowable limit
- Skid within the allowable limit, but underlying fabric and steel are not exposed
- Sidewall damage in rubber area only
Note: All other conditions are the same as in the Grade A casing
